Life is relatively mundane until he crosses paths with Taryn, a green-eyed girl who does nothing but make his life difficult. They wind up stuck working together on a science project. Petra quickly realizes this new posting is not an internment camp at all. It’s a death camp, and her job is to oversee the execution of its inhabitants. After watching a large group of dragons die, she resigns. Attempting to leave the horrors behind, she settles into a mundane existence on her family’s farm.
Her hope to live in obscurity is short-lived when an enemy soldier appears at her doorstep, desperate to save the woman he loves. Hoping to gain some level of forgiveness for her crimes, she agrees to help and sets out on a journey that will forever change the course of history. Hello, my wonderful readers!

I do have an update for everyone on the Drakin world. In response to the question a lot of people have asked since day one… Yes, there will be one more sequel in the Drakin series, and yes you heard that right; one more. To be honest, I wasn’t keen on letting the series end on The Butcher’s Endsong. At best, it was an ambiguous ending, at worst, it was a downer. I don’t want that for a series that has brought a lot of joy, both for me to write and (hopefully) you all to read. I want to end the series right. I want it to go out with a bang, for better or worse. So I worked up the creative juices to deliver the finale once and for all. This book will end the series all together.

So wait, does that mean that’s it? You’re done?

If you’re asking if I’m done with the Drakin series… the answer is likely yes. However, never say never. I could wind up coming up with an offshoot title in the same world or an additional adventure to tie things together. I do have an incomplete story that takes place during the height of the Red War, which I have been toying with for a while. However, at this point, I am focused on finishing the finale to the main series.

If you’re asking if I’m done writing in general… the answer is most likely no. I love writing, like really love it. However, it takes a lot of time, effort, and money to get the book done, get it to publishing, and make sure it looks good. It takes a lot out of you. I’m pretty much at the end of my line in terms of inspiration and in need of rest. Over the last ten years, I’ve literally almost a novel a year, which is no small task.

I just want to say that this is an incredible journey and I look forward to it continuing. I can’t wait to deliver my next book to all of you!

So what can I tell you this far?

Well, this book will have a ton of cameos and honorable mentions. A lot. It will take the entire world in a new direction that will hopefully answer all of the remaining questions and give a sense of finality to Qira’s wish.

It takes place from the end of Cataclysm Protocol: Red and then moves onto the events of The Butcher’s Endsong before branching off into its own book.

The working title at this point is “The Rule of One.”

That’s what I have for now. I don’t want to tip my hat too much. Stay tuned. There’s a lot more exciting things to come!

War always comes with consequences, many of which are not immediately apparent. The remaining dragons were allowed to integrate into human society, despite many underlying tensions. A recently discovered ability that makes dragons appear more humanlike has helped move things along. However, not everything is as peaceful as it seems. Asher Cole is attending his final year in one of the many integrated high schools. Life is relatively mundane until he crosses paths with Taryn, a green-eyed girl who does nothing but make his life difficult. They wind up stuck working together on a science project. As he works with her, it becomes apparent that there is more to her than meets the eye. A dark secret that even she doesn’t know could threaten the fledgling peace. Taryn’s dreams become haunted by a malevolent entity that is hell-bent on destroying her. Ash is in a race to save them both before they both lose their sanity. If he fails, she will not have the strength to prevent this unknown evil from wreaking havoc on the world.

The most difficult enemy to fight is often oneself, their past, and guilt.
Sgt. Petra Penkrav came to learn this the hard way. After serving the Empire loyally for several years, she gets transferred to a new post, guarding a camp where dragons and dissidents are in protective custody… or so the imperial propaganda says.
Petra quickly realizes this new posting is not an internment camp at all. It’s a death camp, and her job is to oversee the execution of its inhabitants. After watching a large group of dragons die, she resigns. Attempting to leave the horrors behind, she settles into a mundane existence on her family’s farm.
Her hope to live in obscurity is short-lived when an enemy soldier appears at her doorstep, desperate to save the woman he loves. Hoping to gain some level of forgiveness for her crimes, she agrees to help and sets out on a journey that will forever change the course of history. The only question is whether that history will remember her as a hero or a war criminal.
