Hello all!

So I know a few people have been asking lately about where we are with the new book… I don’t have a major update, but I wanted to let everyone know where we stand.

Softcover/Kindle formats: Complete and approved
Hardcover Format: Complete and approved
Cover Modeling and photography: Complete and approved.
Cover designed Template: Complete and approved.
Cover design: First drafts completed, final drafts underway.
Legal: ISBNs assigned, copyrighting and registering underway.
Release status: Looking at a mid-late January release.

I know we were hoping for a late December release, but I’ll still have to approve the proofs once they’re printed and ready to go. We want to make sure everything looks right and at the end of the day, everyone wants it to look it’s best. So sit tight, Cataclysm Protocol: Red is going to be a wild ride and we can’t wait for you all to enjoy it!

FAQ:

Jim, since you’ve been writing these out of order, can you tell us when this one takes place?

This one will immediately follow the events of Tale of a Frozen Heart.

Will it feature any of the characters from the previous novels?

As always, I have a small number of cameos from book to book. You may see some familiar faces that you didn’t expect to.

Do you have a release date?

We were hoping for a pre-Christmas release. Not going to happen. The final cover designs have to be processed, and then I have to get the final drafts in the form of proofs before we can release the book.

Will there be a sequel?

Oh man, you guys will never give me a break, will you? Honestly… this is the sixth book in the Drakin series. I never thought it would go on this long. I can’t promise that there will be any more books after this one… however, you never know.

So what’s the book actually about?

Sgt. Petra Penkrav came to learn this the hard way. After serving the Empire loyally for several years, she gets transferred to a new post, guarding a camp where dragons and dissidents are in protective custody… or so the imperial propaganda says.
Petra quickly realizes this new posting is not an internment camp at all. It’s a death camp, and her job is to oversee the execution of its inhabitants. After watching a large group of dragons die, she resigns. Attempting to leave the horrors behind, she settles into a mundane existence on her family’s farm.
Her hope to live in obscurity is short-lived when an enemy soldier appears at her doorstep, desperate to save the woman he loves. Hoping to gain some level of forgiveness for her crimes, she agrees to help and sets out on a journey that will forever change the course of history. The only question is whether that history will remember her as a hero or a war criminal.

I know it’s been a while since we provided an update, but we’ve had a lot going on! With the Holidays just around the corner, I haven’t had a lot of time to provide a big update. So here we go with where we are:

FAQ:

Jim, since you’ve been writing these out of order, can you tell us when this one takes place?

This one will immediately follow the events of Tale of a Frozen Heart.

Will it feature any of the characters from the previous novels?

As always, I have a small number of cameos from book to book. You may see some familiar faces that you didn’t expect to.

Do you have a release date?

Tentatively… I’d like to have it out before Christmas. However, I cannot be held to that. Delays happen and this is a long process.

Will there be a sequel?

Oh man, you guys will never give me a break, will you? Honestly… this is the sixth book in the Drakin series. I never thought it would go on this long. I can’t promise that there will be any more books after this one… however, you never know.
