A recently discovered ability that makes dragons appear more humanlike has helped move things along. However, not everything is as peaceful as it seems. Asher Cole is attending his final year in one of the many integrated high schools. Life is relatively mundane until he crosses paths with Taryn, a green-eyed girl who does nothing but make his life difficult. They wind up stuck working together on a science project. As he works with her, it becomes apparent that there is more to her than meets the eye. A dark secret that even she doesn’t know could threaten the fledgling peace. Taryn’s dreams become haunted by a malevolent entity that is hell-bent on destroying her. Ash is in a race to save them both before they both lose their sanity. If he fails, she will not have the strength to prevent this unknown evil from wreaking havoc on the world.

The most difficult enemy to fight is often oneself, their past, and guilt.
Sgt. Petra Penkrav came to learn this the hard way. After serving the Empire loyally for several years, she gets transferred to a new post, guarding a camp where dragons and dissidents are in protective custody… or so the imperial propaganda says.
Petra quickly realizes this new posting is not an internment camp at all. It’s a death camp, and her job is to oversee the execution of its inhabitants. After watching a large group of dragons die, she resigns. Attempting to leave the horrors behind, she settles into a mundane existence on her family’s farm.
Her hope to live in obscurity is short-lived when an enemy soldier appears at her doorstep, desperate to save the woman he loves. Hoping to gain some level of forgiveness for her crimes, she agrees to help and sets out on a journey that will forever change the course of history. The only question is whether that history will remember her as a hero or a war criminal.

Hello all!

Just wanted to give another update. Cataclysm Protocol Red is proceeding very quickly. I just finished the final draft and am now handing it off to my editor.

I have also already contracted one of my two cover artists to begin work on the book. Once everything is finalized with the draft, next comes the legal… which is a pain in the rear end. However, so far we’re on track and this is looking to be one of the most exciting books I’ve put out yet.

FAQ:

Jim, since you’ve been writing these out of order, can you tell us when this one takes place?

This one will immediately follow the events of Tale of a Frozen Heart.

Will it feature any of the characters from the previous novels?

As always, I have a small number of cameos from book to book. You may see some familiar faces that you didn’t expect to.

Do you have a release date?

Tentatively… I’d like to have it out before Christmas. However, I cannot be held to that. Delays happen and this is a long process.

Will there be a sequel?

Oh man, you guys will never give me a break, will you? Honestly… this is the sixth book in the Drakin series. I never thought it would go on this long. I can’t promise that there will be any more books after this one… however, you never know.

Just wanted to give another update. Cataclysm Protocol Red is still coming along nicely. We’re part way through the fifth draft. Then comes the long haul… the legal parts and cover design comes next. We’re getting there. I’m hoping for a December release, but that’s still up in the air.

Hello all!

Just wanted to give another update. We’ve decided to go with the title “Cataclysm Protocol Red.” The book will take place immediately after “Tale of a Frozen Heart” and will follow another group of characters on a new adventure. Deals with the devil will be made. You will follow these characters as they prove their loyalty and love to one another through the familiar world of Drakin.

So with that said, where are we? Well, we’ve completed the second draft of the book. I’m going to be reaching out to my cover designers soon and start working on the third draft of the story.

We have a long way to go, but I’ve already got a lot mapped out and a good chunk of the work has now been finished. There’s a lot more coming!!
