I don’t know why I do this every year, but it gives me peace of mind. I know it may be a little childish, but I thought I’d share some of the more hilarious and/or cringy ones with all of you… because misery loves company!

We’re going absolutely low on the spelling/grammar/relevance scale here, people. Be very afraid.

*Facepalm*

Yes… it does really seem like that, doesn’t it? You know that’s not really a profound statement when it’s… what actually happened?

… how did you know that I was trying to lose weight? Oh no, they’re on to me…

… I’m starting to see a pattern here. There seems to be a connection between spamming and daddy issues. Do we have any psychologists or psych students among my readers? You should totally get going on a research paper!

Readers, I invite you to go through your Spam comments. Are they as ridiculous as mine? Feel free to post a few!

Thanks,
Jim

  1. Jim, do you know if those spam comments do any actual harm? Would responding to them or approving them grant the sender access to my account? To date, I simply delete them.

    • I honestly have no idea. I go through them to see if any legitimate comments were accidentally caught. It seems like the algorithm often snags broken English, which isn’t always indicative of spam.

From a technical standpoint, I don’t see how approving them would grant a user any access to your account. However I’d strongly caution against clicking on any links they provide.

  2. Thanks for the laughs! (Un)fortunately I have no way to return the favor.
Makes me wonder, maybe daddy issue comments are easiest to be learned by bots or something?

  3. Oh my gosh, you get the comments containing, “The Saga of Lee and Larry” too?
Those ones are always my favorite to read from the spam folder; although, my all-time top favorite spam comment was one that I got that tried to explain to me how Jews were the Illuminati, and how they caused all the evils in the world. It was absolute nonsense, but I laughed so hard reading it.
    Great post

    • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I didn’t get that one. That would so have been right above the ‘It’s like your wrote a book about a book your wrote’ one.

  4. This is brilliant! Your spam folder is much more entertaining than mine. My spammers are sneaky little boogers who like to give compliments that end up advising me to seak help. Great post! Hope you share more of these soon. 🙂
